Home Sweet Home

Term 1 ended and we literally ran outta there. Caught a flight to Bombay followed very closely by one to Chennai. God Bless Jet. Every other carrier out of Ahd was delayed by hours for some reason. And finally, after three months of waiting.. Am HOME!! :)

No sudden realizations here, I've known for a while that I miss Chennai. I miss talking to people in tamil. Miss my parents and sister. Miss my friends here. I literally "grew up" here.

And am now back for a week of home food, telling dad about courses, hanging out with friends and catching up on stuff.

Saw Salaam Namaste which is surprisingly good. Also saw Biloxi Blues. Which was fun but ribald.

Thinking about all the things i love about this place. Filter Coffee, grandmom's house, the Beach, Satyam Cinema, friends, always running into people you know, family, veetu sappadu ('home food').

I love Madras..

Have fun at "Madras"

I still have another 3 months to go before I even start thinking about packing and buying stuff. To go to Madras.

I do miss T Nagar and Ranganathan street so much.

just browsing. and reading this i can imagine what it feels like for you to be back home. only difference. im a tamilian who spent all his life in ahmedabad and am now studying in bangalore. i spent a lot of good days in a'bad and to me, there'll be no place like a'bad. its the safest place in india, u can see chicks roaming around at 2 in the night without any threat(!!) there have been many places in a'bad that i have frequented, one of them being IIM-A. ive been there since i was a kid and always " outsider looking on the insiders ". i have known tons of IIM-A people. IIM-A also has lots of memories as being a quite little place to go off to and smoke. theres a place near the badminton court and around D-4 (i think )at the dorms that we call the " slope " well, because its a huge slope with a little grass growing between the bricks in monsoon. during our 12th ( PUC ) days we used to go to the slope, light up and smoke our brains out lying down there, thinking over how life would turn out after 12th grade. then we would go to our school loyola which is like 2 kms. away and relax out there. seriously, IIM-A is a really nice place. ur lucky to be there. enjoy ur two years. u earned it. i never studied there, i might some day, but i know it like the back of my hand. and oh, and to mention the crevice tracking method. on the dorm walls leading to the residences of the professors, there are holes in the walls. we used to change spots where we sit quite often, so we used to leave fags in the crevices. only the fags were made outta rolling paper with tobacco in them, and blah, blah, dont want to bore u with mystery/thriller shit. we thought it was fun. we were into war movies. who'd wanna know. anyways what i think the point of this rant is that being in ones hometown makes one feel invincible, the places, the friends, the youthful fights or " babals " out there one had. memories. i cant wait to go back there. i have only 5 months to go ;) till im king again.

as for chennai, never been there in my life. yes, its an irony that a tamilian has never been to chennai. but ah, well.

anyways, if u do need anything out in ahmedabad that is out of reach, u can mail at fromeighttoinfinity@yahoo.com

take care and enjoy ur time in town.
