Sleaze!

Slimes of India does it again. They've taken a childrens story book and converted it into cheap trash.

I read the article, and wondered what the point was. This is a kind of journalism where you first decide on an angle (archies/harry are BAD) and then look for facts. Failing to find them, you twist existing ones to suit your story. Ranjan Yumnam, are you happy that your name is in print? Will you frame this story in your study? Show it to your dad's friends? As an example of investigative journalism?

If i take any passage from the bible, or from a seventh standard maths textbook, i can twist it into sleaze. The point is, was there hidden innuendo? In this case, it is extremely clear that it wasn't. Even out of context, the words sound like subtitles to v. bad vernacular porn. So what then, is the author trying to say? I'm still wondering.

In the sixth standard, boys in our class were on the threshold of puberty. They'd crack silly jokes where the punch line would be a private part. It got so, that we couldn't solve physics problems on momentum without the class going into hysterics. (Think, two balls colliding at speed x).

I'll say now what my physics teacher said then : "Boys, Grow up!"

Really bad stuff from TOI, but what else can one expect from the tabloid that TOI is.

SHIT! I never thought TOI would stoop so low! Those passages were so completely out of context and no one in their right minds would have looked at them with that skewed mentality. And THIS was newsworthy??

A big turn off it is... really...

such dumb-foolery... Indeed the Slimes of India.

What sort of a perverted mind can come up with trash like this? Sick, really... How could they publish this?

TOI can never improve! I think whenever they run of things to publish they just start writing stories as news articles.

BTW, I Came here from Kiruba's blog. You an SVCE alum? I graduated from EEE in 98. What about you?

we all knew TOI was bad but this is nauseating....And why go as far as sixth std when you can start with KG
a for apple
b for ball
c for cat
d for doll

my tastes dont really run towards vernacular porn, anon.. :) i'm as bewildered as most females are by the attraction of it! (where is the plot? why are they suddenly doing that??)

and i guess the innuendos start only by around 6th or 7th when you first learn about s-e-x

this is abso trash even as a space filler! sick of TOI! I'm subscribing to the Hindu (even if i get it a day late!)

this is really really bad and in utmost poor taste. but when the floods happened, slimes had a headline which said 'MAROONED'. Why? Celebrities didn't get their TOI because of the floods. That's even worse. They make BEevis & Butthead look good.

I am surprised that you still read Times of India. The last one that really did me in was: "10 ways to insult people" (or something or something on that lines). I thought they were kidding, but was horrified to see that they had listed 10 ways one can actually insult people! Unfortunately, this shows lack of "leadership" in Indian "Journalism". Can't we find one newspaper publisher who takes the leadership, makes a stand, and says that the quality of the online edition of their newspaper will be very high? There is no "innovation" needed in this space. All that you have to do is ape www.nytimes.com (the online publication of The New York Times). We ape so many things from the US; Can't we ape this?

Goes to show how you can get away with passing off any pathetic excuse for thought as something utterly smart these days and hell, even get paid for it.

How many more years before I'm entirely sick of this world and all its major institutions?

Thank God for the Hindu

That does sound pathetic.

Nobody in their right minds would go through books and novels just to find hidden perverted meanings. The slimes of India have gone out of the way with that!!!
