Kanda Naal Mudhal

Its been a little more than a month I think since this movie was released. I finally got to see it only a few days ago. Unlike your typical run of the mill masala movie, this one has no villain, no hero, no action scenes, no car chases, no songs in the rain, no item numbers and few tears. Its a simple story of a girl, two boys, an arranged marriage and some complications in between. If you haven't already caught this flick, do so! Its worth it.

Prasanna has cropped up in the recent past in some refreshingly nice movies. I enjoyed five star, and definitely enjoyed his performance in this move too. Laila is tolerable after the first five minutes. I only wish they could find actresses who could speak the language without sounding like they had a gun to their heads. Karthik plays the second male lead. For the second time, he is slotted into the urban NRI role, though this time we are spared the 'firang' accent (Unlike his earlier role in Alaipayuthe). His role is small but well portrayed.

The first half of the movie has all together too many songs. The war-scene song for example is totally avoidable. But on the whole, its a refreshing flick and well worth a watch.

Yeah, same here. I mean HOW OLD is that story??? Girl and Boy fight as kids and keep fighting as they grow up, and then decide they're in love. HELLO! Don't people HATE each other anymore? ;)

Oh, but I liked the title song though :). I always like Remixed Carnatic songs- this, Alaipayuthe... all of em.

anand, hated the remixed version. Somehow i prefer the originals..

And if two people hated each other, it wouldn't make too much of a story now would it..

I once read that there are only six original plots in the world.. :-)

dilbert, too bad you didn't like it.. :)

Well... to each his own on Remixes :)

But, two people hating each other does not make a story???? Have you SEEN Minnale? ;)

Hello anand!

in minnale they dont hate each other..in fact maddy falls in love with Reema the second he sees her....and if u r talking abt the animosity between Maddy and Abbas, well thats not wat this film is abt. Watch Brokeback mountain for films in that vein.

Which Minnale did u see?!

btw reema sen is to die for. Shes the best looking binbette in kollywood.

Laila annoys. she so painful to watch......and her 'look at me, im so cute ' face is losing its appeal(?)

Suze, i stopped by time last month and noticed they put up yr pic in their list of illustrious students. no debating the achievement but the photo itself warrants a blog. Could u post that pic again. Lolz...... u are very pretty now :)--hope that softens the blow.....lol :)

Hello Dilbert,
Yeah, same Minnale I'm talking about... the one I've watched 16 times ;). And to me, the essence of that movie is "avanakku enna pidikkale, enakku avana sutthama pidikkale" :). Anyway, I agree on the Reema Sen part :)

Suze,
Sorry about the independent conversation on YOUR blog :)
